The Reason

I Am Fearfully Made

Copyright 2006.

Written for an Advent Story project I'm working on. This is from the perspective of of one of the camels bringing the wise men from the East.

The mundane side of this song simply tells us the plodding and uncaring protected life of the camel, and many of the wonderful attributes God has designed them with, to protect them in the desert.

However, when we look closer, one of the lines in this song becomes a 'teachable moment' - 'I will serve on my knees, my Master to please, though where we're going, I cannot tell.'
Isn't this to be our attitude towards our Lord and Master - to serve Him, to worship Him, and to follow Him wherever He leads us, even though we may not know where we are going?

Lyrics

Verse 1:
From the far distant mountains in a far Eastern land
To the shores of a strange new sea
Mile after mile after mile we came
But the miles didn't weary me.
We avoided the dry burning desert
To climb by a stream through the trees
But I was designed to go days without water
In one hundred and fifty degrees.

Chorus:
I am fearfully made
I am wonderfully made
And that I know full well
I will serve on my knees
My master to please
Though where we're going, I cannot tell.

Verse 2:
I have pads on my feet, for the sand's searing heat
And thick eyelids to keep out the sand
I'll find water for you, if you will allow me to
I can smell it for miles in this land.
We have journeyed a year to arrive over here
Where the sun sinks into to sea.
We have traveled so far, chasing a star,
The king of all kings for to see.

Chorus:
